Position Description

We are currently seeking a bright, focused and proactive individual to join our team as a Vice President in our Public Affairs practice. The candidate will lead and manage a diverse portfolio of clients, manage and develop staff teams, contribute to thought leadership activities, and participate in business development. This position is full-time salaried, with benefits and paid holidays. The Vice President reports to the Public Affairs Partners and works closely with senior leaders across the Public Affairs practice.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience in public affairs, strategic communications, and/or coalition management is required. Experience in media relations, advocacy, and grassroots engagement is a plus. The ideal candidate must be team-oriented, have a keen attention to detail, possess exceptional oral and written communications skills, have a proven track record of leading and managing both clients and staff, and ability to work well under pressure.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop and execute fully integrated public affairs campaigns that support Forbes Tate Partners’ clients.
  • Build and/or manage coalitions, maintain relationships with third-party stakeholders, and mobilize like-minded outside groups to advance client priorities.
  • Accelerate the growth of the Public Affairs practice by identifying and seizing opportunities to add value through strategic innovation and service integration, coordinating proposals for business development, and identifying additional opportunities for departmental growth.
  • Manage client campaigns that combine coalition management, research, earned and paid media, polling, grassroots engagement, direct outreach to elected officials, and/or stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the media.
  • Develop and maintain a general knowledge of legislation, government policy, and current events relevant to Forbes Tate Partners’ work and its clients.
  • Identify creative ways to engage on core issues and create new opportunities for clients to advocate for key priorities through events, meetings, and partnerships.

The Public Affairs team specializes in crafting strong and compelling messages, devising smart communications and advocacy strategies, engaging the right audiences, and influencing public opinion to deliver results for our clients. Primary responsibilities

  • Conducting research to develop and maintain general knowledge of legislation, public policy, and current events relevant to clients.
  • Drafting content including press releases, one-pagers, case studies, op-eds, website copy, social media, grassroots action alerts and client reports.

The person in this position will assist with the firm’s day-to-day operations, performing daily administrative duties. This position is full-time salaried, with benefits and paid holidays. This position reports to the VP of Operations and Director of Operations.  This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, and organization.

Ideal applicants have experience in organization, information technology, communications, and/or event planning. They must have a keen attention to detail and exceptional multi-tasking abilities and interpersonal skills. Non-profit or political experience, including work on Capitol Hill, within the executive branch, in-state/district offices or political campaigns, is preferred. A desire to learn is greatly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing daily calendars for multiple principals, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving abilities to adjust or prioritize schedules based on last-minute changes.
  • Assist Human Resource (HR) Liaisons with all HR-related items including recruitment and interview process, preparing HR paperwork and orientation schedules for new hires, and scheduling employee annual evaluations.
  • Coordinate new employee on-boarding, including scheduling and conducting orientation, and work with other administrative departments to facilitate the on-boarding process.
  • Assist with organizing, coordinating, and scheduling staff engagement activities.
  • Handle communication of meeting logistics, setup, and special requests with internal departments and external vendors.

Internship Opportunities:

The FTP Internship Program offers students and recent graduates substantive, practical, and hands-on experience working at the nexus between the public and private sectors. Our program exposes interns to the daily workings of a highly reputable government relations and public affairs firm and affords them the opportunity to work specifically with our Public Affairs, Research and Policy Analysis, or Insights Teams.

Public Affairs (PA) – Interns conduct research, write analyses, draft media content (including social media posts), prepare memos for meetings, and assist principals with client-facing projects.

Research and Policy Analysis (RPA) – Interns conduct legislative and policy analyses, attend and report on congressional hearings and briefings, and draft a broad array of research memoranda on issues including health care, tax, energy, natural resources, financial services, and more.

Insights – Interns will contribute to the development of media analysis, survey design, and focus groups. Interns should be excited about digging deeper into the nuts and bolts of data generation and analysis.
