Position Description

Forbes Tate is looking to hire a social and earned media insights director for its newly formed and quickly growing insights practice. The insights practice plays a central role in our public affairs strategies and campaigns, and a successful candidate will be part of one of the fastest growing shops in Washington.

This position is full-time salaried, with benefits and paid holidays.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of of direct, relevant experience in an agency, professional services firm, campaign, government agency or corporate setting.

Successful applicants must also understand the nuts and bolts of social and earned media analysis, but be eager to translate them into clean, actionable findings for clients and colleagues who are more impressed with insights than 100-page decks. Additional required skills include:

  • A track record of developing social and earned media KPI’s for large and small scale campaigns.
  • Expertise with drawing insights from social media monitoring and measurement platforms, such as Netbase, Brandwatch, Crimson Hexagon, or equivalent.
  • Expertise with drawing insights from earned media monitoring and measurement platforms, such as Quid, Cision, or equivalent.
  • A passion for seeing data in new and interesting ways, and expressing those findings through creative visual formats.

Senior Analyst, Research and Policy Analysis

Forbes Tate Partners (FTP) is seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Research and Policy Analysis (RPA) staff. The RPA team provides fundamental support to FTP’s government relations and public affairs professionals by researching, interpreting, and summarizing federal and state legislation, key developments in the legislative process, public policy proposals, political dynamics of key topics, and media coverage of pertinent issues.

This team is central to all of our work at FTP, from business development to building strategy and demonstrating successful outcomes.

This position is full-time salaried, with benefits and paid holidays.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Completing legislative, regulatory, public affairs, and general research projects, including content for broad-based policy analyses and regular update bulletins.
  • Assisting the Senior Director with workflow and project management.
  • Guiding RPA staff in the conduct and completion of general research assignments.
  • Aiding in the assessment of potential public policy impacts of various legislative and regulatory proposals.
  • Drafting public facing research documents to support ongoing issue advocacy campaigns.
  • Assisting in the development business, policy issue, and marketplace assessments to support client development.
  • Assessing new tools for research and helping integrate them into our research process.

Skills and attributes required will include:

  • The ability to quickly and accurately conduct legislative research by reviewing legislation, congressional proceedings and transcripts, and member profiles.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, concise, thorough issue summaries and analyses.
  • The ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments in a flexible, fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • An instinct for identifying and elevating substantively and politically salient elements within large, complicated issues.
  • The ability to think creatively about how to express the ramifications of policy proposals and political developments across issues.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (with a graduate degree preferred), 2-3 years of relevant legislative or policy experience, and demonstrated knowledge of Congress, federal agencies, or state government.

  • Experience with data analysis platforms, which could include SPSS, Stata, R, or similar software or their online equivalents.
  • Experience with basic questionnaire design and programming.
  • Proficiency with data visualization in Powerpoint, Tableau or related software.
  • Higher level data analysis skills — including factor analysis and regression analysis — are a plus.

We are currently seeking a bright, focused and proactive individual to join our team as an Analyst in our Public Affairs practice. The Public Affairs team specializes in crafting strong and compelling messages, devising smart communications and advocacy strategies, engaging the right audiences, and influencing public opinion to deliver results for our clients. This position is full-time salaried, with benefits and paid holidays.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research to develop and maintain general knowledge of legislation, public policy, and current events relevant to clients.
  • Drafting content including press releases, one-pagers, case studies, op-eds, website copy, social media, grassroots action alerts and client reports.
  • Assisting in the development of social media campaigns (organic and paid).
  • Maintaining active communication, interface, and coordination with state field teams on specific client projects.
  • Providing support for client events including event planning, vendor outreach, logistics, and event staffing.
  • Supporting new business initiatives through research and proposal development in all formats including PowerPoint, narrative and memo formats.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree. Prior experience including work on political campaigns, in private sector communications, on Capitol Hill, within the executive branch, or for trade associations is helpful, but not a requirement.

  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills including attention to grammatical detail, clarity, speed, and accuracy.
  • The ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Internship Opportunities:

The FTP Internship Program offers students and recent graduates substantive, practical and hands-on experience working at the nexus between the public and private sectors. Our program exposes interns to the daily workings of a highly reputable government relations and public affairs firm and affords them the opportunity to work specifically with our Public Affairs or Research and Policy Analysis Teams.
