Colin Tooze

Colin Tooze is a Senior Vice President in FTP’s government relations department.

Colin is a longtime advisor to technology companies. A native of Yokohama, Japan, Colin has spent his career advocating on behalf of companies of all sizes that face regulatory scrutiny on the path to growth.

As an early leader on Uber’s public policy team, Colin built and led teams of government relations and PR professionals responsible for passing favorable ridesharing laws in 10 states. He led dozens of successful state, county, and local campaigns for the company, including high-stakes regulatory campaigns in Washington, D.C., Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Paris, and New York City. During his time with Uber, Colin was the company’s primary point of contact with U.S. governors, and served in interim national policy leadership roles in the U.S. and India.

Following his time at Uber, Colin built and led the public affairs and communications function for Pacaso, a real estate technology startup. Earlier in his career, he was Director of Government & Corporate Affairs for Expedia, Inc., where he led a successful multistate campaign that resulted in annual tax savings to the company in the tens of millions of dollars.

Colin studied English Literature at the University of Richmond, and received a degree of Juris Doctor from the law school at the University of Notre Dame. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and two children.
