Rick Murphy

Rick Murphy is a Partner at FTP.

A stalwart in both public policy and politics at the Federal level for two decades, Rick Murphy knows the ins and outs of Capitol Hill.

Rick started his political career in 1992 working for then-New Hampshire Governor Judd Gregg’s (R-NH) successful campaign for the United States Senate. On the campaign, Rick served as the chief field operative, where he led efforts to organize each county in the state and advanced the Governor ahead of each of his campaign stops. After U.S. Senator Judd Gregg’s election, Rick followed Gregg to Washington where he became an integral member of the Senator’s legislative shop.

After working for former Senator Gregg through his first term, Rick left the Senate to start his own lobbying firm, R. B. Murphy & Associates, LLC, which he ran for 15 years.

Rick’s firm quickly gained a strong track record of effectively representing its clients – including Fortune 50 companies like Google and Altria – before the federal government. Mr. Murphy’s firm also represented leading trade associations, America’s leading physicists, and an array of public and private companies.

Rick returned to the Senate in 2014 as Chief of Staff to former Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH). In this capacity, Rick oversaw a staff of forty people to ensure that the Senator’s constituent services and legislative operations were carried out effectively to benefit New Hampshirites. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, Rick interacted with the Senate Republican Leadership on a daily basis. As a senior aide, Rick was respected by Senate Leadership for his active political role in furthering the legislative agenda and his professional touch.

Originally from Middlebury, CT, Rick received his Bachelor’s from New England College in Henniker, NH.
