WASHINGTON, DC – Longtime Democratic grassroots strategist Lauren Crawford Shaver has joined Forbes Tate Partners (FTP) as a Partner, where she will lead the firm’s growing grassroots practice.

Prior to joining the FTP team, Lauren served as Director of Expansion States for Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid. In this role, Lauren was responsible for building a Democratic infrastructure with state parties and candidates up and down the ballot for 2016 and future cycles.

“Our firm is thrilled to bring on Lauren. She brings more than a decade of grassroots, grasstops, and political consulting experience which makes her an invaluable member of our expanding public affairs practice. She brings to our firm a robust portfolio of state advocacy experience and countless relationships with thought leaders both inside the Beltway and in states from coast to coast. Our clients and their advocacy goals will surely benefit from Lauren’s expertise,” said Forbes Tate Partners Founding Partner Jeff Forbes.

Lauren is also a veteran of the Obama Administration, where she served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for health care at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She managed campaigns and issues related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare, Medicaid, HealthIT, prescription drug pricing, health centers, and other health research.

Prior to HHS, Lauren was a consultant designing and executing grassroots and grasstops campaigns across various industries including healthcare, finance, trade, and hospitality.

“Lauren’s outside-in approach applies the tactics of political campaigns to legislative and public affairs settings. Her experience in directing large-scale public affairs campaigns both inside and outside the Beltway is second to none,” said Forbes Tate Partners Founding Partner Dan Tate, Jr.

“We are so happy to have Lauren join our team. She will be an asset to our firm’s public affairs practice, as she brings a deep understanding of how meaningful grassroots campaigns are run from start to finish. Lauren’s history of training successful teams as part of an extensive network of strategic allies will ensure our clients are able to effectively deliver constituent responses to legislators at any point in any given debate.”

In addition to her consulting work, Lauren also held roles in Iowa, Nevada, and Washington for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, worked in Ohio for Obama for America in 2008, and drove priorities for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in Illinois in 2012.

A born and raised Seattleite, Lauren received her Bachelor’s from the University of San Diego and her Master’s from John Hopkins University.
