LEADING STRATEGIST AND POLLSTER DOUG USHER JOINS FORBES TATE PARTNERS

FTP Expands Practice With Addition Of New Public Affairs Partner

WASHINGTON – Forbes Tate Partners (FTP) today announced the addition of Doug Usher as Partner at the firm. Usher brings two decades of public opinion research experience in government, corporate, and advocacy settings. His past work has helped change the strategic trajectory of major corporations, industry associations, and political campaigns. He brings a career of experience navigating the intersection between business goals and the political, policy, and regulatory spheres.

As Partner, Usher will help lead the public affairs practice, delivering the latest insights and analytics to Forbes Tate while also helping expand the firm’s research and policy analysis reach and services.

“Data and research play such an important role in crafting effective communications and advocacy strategies that resonate with their intended audiences,” said Usher. “I cannot think of a firm that integrates their public affairs and government relations work as seamlessly as FTP. And because both practices rely on robust research and policy analysis, I can’t wait to help add my opinion research expertise to their existing team.”

As an expert on opinion research, as well as political and corporate campaign strategy, Doug speaks and writes widely on the subject. He has served as an expert witness for the U.S. Department of Justice and conducts seminars for the U.S. State Department’s International Visitors Program for delegations from around the world. He holds a Ph.D. in Government and Research Methodology from Cornell University.

“Doug is a premier leader in all things data and research,” said Founding Partner Jeff Forbes. “Having him join the team here at FTP is extremely exciting, and I cannot wait to see all the things we can accomplish with his expertise and leadership.”

Prior to joining Forbes Tate Partners, Usher founded and directed Purple Insights as a Managing Partner at Purple Strategies. In that role, Usher created custom research methodologies integrating opinion research and successful communications strategies. He previously worked at Widmeyer Communications and the Mellman Group.

Doug has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, National Public Radio, and CBC TV in Canada to provide his analysis of trends in public opinion and politics. His writing has been published in The Wall Street Journal, National Journal’s Hotline, POLITICO, Inside Higher Ed, Political Research Quarterly, The Hill, and Campaigns and Elections.
